Awards and recognition

As a fairly new setting, we do not yet have any awards directly specific to us at this point.  However, it is something we are passionate about.  Awards give us recognition for our hard work and commitment to achieving the very best for your child.  Watch as we grow....

In 2024 we are working with Leeds and the NHS to achieve LCFS (Leeds Communication Friendly Standard)

An initiative of Leeds Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Department, LCFS standard aims to embed effective communication skills throughout our setting to enable children to achieve their academic potential. In an age of communication, getting the fundamentals right for everyone has never been more important. LCFS is designed to work at our pace over two years. By achieving the standard, we will have:

  • Developed your environment so it is communication friendly
  • Ensured opportunities for communication are common practice throughout the day
  • Quality adult interaction that is effective in supporting children in all areas of language development regardless of learning ability
  • Independent and communicative children
  • An ethos in the school that ensures communication is a core business strategy and practices are underpinned by an ongoing management commitment

By working on these skills together, it ensures that work completed by a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) for individual children with speech and language communication needs is easily accessible and there is an understanding of how to support the child throughout the day, not just in a limited time with the SLT.

We are starting Principle 1 - Environment

Relating to physical and learning environment

Use principle one to create consistency across your setting with visuals and timetables that promote independence for everyone. Your children who are new to English or have speech and language communication needs will be able to thrive when the classrooms are communication friendly. Settings who have achieved principle one, have reported a reduction in challenging behaviour.  (Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust)

Also in 2024 we will be working towards our Montessori Accreditation.  STAR - Standards, Training, Accreditation, Review.

STAR is awarded to quality settings and educators choosing to be held accountable for their methods of operation and professional practice. This public level of confidence is essential for supporting families and communities, seeking confirmation of excellence amongst the range of educational provision available today.

Angela Euesden, Owner/Manager has received many awards and recognitions during her 25 year career in early years.

In November 2006 she was awarded by Islington Council for 'outstanding achievement in Quality Assurance' at her Montessori Nursery on Upper Street, N1. This Nursery went on to become an outstanding setting.

Whilst working as an Assistant Head Teacher at Aldersbrook Primary School in London, Angela worked with the Montessori Centre to create the first state funded Montessori provision in London and was awarded Montessorian Practitioner of the Year.  Nursery World wrote an article on the achievement.  The school achieved it's first outstanding grading in 2014, it still maintains it's Montessori early years ethos and is still outstanding today (2022).

As Head Teacher of a 220 place infant school in Hertfordshire, and under Angela's guidance and leadership, the school achieved it's first Montessori Accreditation with the Montessori Centre in London in June 2019.  The report mentioned the extremely passionate leadership team successfully managing the school.  It was described as 'beautiful with a vibrant and exciting environment in which children flourish and learn."  The school was an Ofsted outstanding school throughout Angela's entire 5 year leadership.
