New guidance (2026) for children under five recommends limiting screen time to support healthy development. For children aged 2 to 5 years, families are encouraged to aim for no more than one hour of screen time per day, with less being even better where possible. Screens should be avoided during mealtimes and in the hour before bedtime, and any content should be age-appropriate, slow-paced and viewed together with an adult whenever possible. Young children learn best through play, conversation, physical activity and real-life experiences, so we encourage families to balance screen use with plenty of opportunities for interaction, exploration and creative play.

Even children as young as ours need educating at their level on how to stay safe online.  We do this through focus internet safety weeks across the year, stories appropriate for their age, for example 'Digiduck' and 'Smartie Penguin' (see links below) and through circle time sessions where we talk about our personal information and what that means.

Information on this page will assist parents to understand further how to keep children safe online.
